Flippin’ Annoying People & God’s Love – by Paul J. Kim

We were actually good friends once. We met while volunteering and ended up being involved with another young adult ministry. We invited each other to special events, holiday gatherings, hung out with mutual friends, and even laughed at each other’s jokes. Then there came this season in the friendship […]

I Didn’t Even Tell My Closest Friends About My Attempted Suicide – by Maggie Kim

The other day, I spent some time at the Broad Museum in Downtown LA. Modern art is unique, graphic, and sometimes downright weird, and until this day I didn’t have much appreciation for it. But when I saw this particular painting, the first thing I thought was, “I’ve felt […]

I Lost All My Hair, But Found The Meaning Of Beauty – by Maggie Kim

Anybody who has known me for a while knows that I always had a great head of hair. I don’t mean to sound conceited or vain, but it’s the truth. I always had long, thick hair and every hair stylist I went to would grab fistfuls of it and excitedly […]

Why I Wish My Parents Had Talked To Me About Sex – by Maggie Kim

Let’s have that awkward conversation about sex.   Because we’re not doing anybody any favors by being hush-hush about this thing that is shoved into our faces every single day. Parents, pastors, youth ministers, and anyone else who has young ones looking to you for guidance and answers, this […]

What to Expect When You’re Not Expecting – by Maggie Kim

When I took a pregnancy test and realized I was pregnant with our second child, I cried. They were not tears of joy and thanksgiving, but rather tears of fear and anxiety. You see, my firstborn was only 5 months old at the time, and I had just started to […]

If You’re Single, You’re Gonna Die – by Paul J. Kim

Just kidding. Now, since you’re here… Let’s do some real talk. If you’re single, raise your hand. Now take a long, deep breath, and exhale. Feel that? Everything is going to be okay, you’re not gonna die… Unless you text and drive.   I know Christmas and the holidays are […]

    Youth Speaker for Hire!

“I have heard many, many motivational speakers in my life, but you are one of the best I have heard thus far. Your approach to the Catholic Church is truly inspiring, your music is phenomenal, and your message is a blessing to hear.”  Christine Flores  |  Youth Minister  |  Los […]

Confession: A Catholic Torture Chamber – by Paul J. Kim

“Confessing our sins is not going to a psychiatrist, or to a torture chamber: it’s saying to the Lord, ‘Lord, I am a sinner.’” ~ Pope Francis    I can remember the first time I had to go to confession. I was around 8 years old, and I was scared. […]

Would You Like Some Cleavage With Your Burger? – by Paul J. Kim

Every year in the United States, there’s this national holiday that rolls around called: Super Bowl Sunday. Half of the people at these household Super Bowl parties are there to see two NFL Football teams go at it for glory, in fierce competition. The other half of the partygoers are […]

Lighthouse Catholic Media Produced One of My Talks!

I’m happy to announce that Lighthouse Catholic Media picked up one of my talks and produced it into a CD! I didn’t think that I’d be one of those speakers with a CD in the back of Churches throughout America, but alas, the time has come. I’m grateful […]

Racism is the sin of people telling God He made a mistake by not creating everyone else just like them. There have been many times throughout my life where I have experienced racism firsthand because of my Asian heritage as a Korean American. Comments like gook, chink, and slant eye. Stereotypes projected towards me such as, Wow, you can speak English?, How do you see with your eyes? and I know he doesn't look like he's from around here, but he's a good guy. I've even experienced it where people treat me differently than other speakers at an event, because I'm ethnic. Sometimes subtle, other times blatant, but always ignorant, offensive, and wrong. And let's be honest for a minute, it's not always a white person towards a person of color... I've gotten these comments from all different ethnicities. Racism is an equal opportunity offender. So here are my options: I can get bitter, angry, equally racist, hateful, unforgiving, and degrade myself to that level of behavior. Or, I can love like Christ does, forgive, pray for, live my life to the fullest, be faithful, be content with who I am, be successful and help change lives and peoples' attitudes, while haters look on and drink the poison of their own envy, jealousy, and stupidity. I will never apologize, feel inferior, or back down because I am Asian. God created me as I am, and I am proud of my heritage. I was born in Los Angeles to Korean immigrants, and I am just as American as anyone else. And God prepares a place for me in Heaven now, where I am a true citizen, and where no racists will ever live. #charlottesville #asian #american
Do the work. Dig deep. Seek the help / therapy / spiritual direction / addiction recovery / AA / NA / marriage counseling / lifestyle / behavioral change that is needed. One small decision can change your life, your family tree, and the world you live in. God can't help you without your permission and without that first step. Do it. No more excuses. You got this.
The Kim ohana celebrated Aiden's 1st bday party Hawaiian Style
My little man, Aiden... It seems just like yesterday when I drove your champ of a Mom to the hospital, as she screamed like a banshee due to labor pains, and I dodged traffic like some sort of action hero in a car chase scene. You're a year old now, and I'm so happy that God let me be your daddy. It's a joy to see you grow. I'm so proud of you. #happybirthday #son #myboy ❤️

In Korean tradition Aiden is wearing traditional clothing called a Hanbohk, and at the first day party the child chooses an item laid out for them to signify what they might do in the future. Aiden wants to shred the Ukulele in the future like @jakeshimabukuro apparently :)My little man, Aiden...
