Marrying the 0.01% – by Maggie Kim

(Photo by John Cudal) +   Sometimes when I’m driving to work in the mornings, I pass the time by listening to “Ryan’s Roses”. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s probably better if you don’t. But basically, it’s a “service” that a radio show provides […]

Flippin’ Annoying People & God’s Love – by Paul J. Kim

We were actually good friends once. We met while volunteering and ended up being involved with another young adult ministry. We invited each other to special events, holiday gatherings, hung out with mutual friends, and even laughed at each other’s jokes. Then there came this season in the friendship […]

I Didn’t Even Tell My Closest Friends About My Attempted Suicide – by Maggie Kim

The other day, I spent some time at the Broad Museum in Downtown LA. Modern art is unique, graphic, and sometimes downright weird, and until this day I didn’t have much appreciation for it. But when I saw this particular painting, the first thing I thought was, “I’ve felt […]

I Lost All My Hair, But Found The Meaning Of Beauty – by Maggie Kim

Anybody who has known me for a while knows that I always had a great head of hair. I don’t mean to sound conceited or vain, but it’s the truth. I always had long, thick hair and every hair stylist I went to would grab fistfuls of it and excitedly […]

Why I Wish My Parents Had Talked To Me About Sex – by Maggie Kim

Let’s have that awkward conversation about sex.   Because we’re not doing anybody any favors by being hush-hush about this thing that is shoved into our faces every single day. Parents, pastors, youth ministers, and anyone else who has young ones looking to you for guidance and answers, this […]

What to Expect When You’re Not Expecting – by Maggie Kim

When I took a pregnancy test and realized I was pregnant with our second child, I cried. They were not tears of joy and thanksgiving, but rather tears of fear and anxiety. You see, my firstborn was only 5 months old at the time, and I had just started to […]

If You’re Single, You’re Gonna Die – by Paul J. Kim

Just kidding. Now, since you’re here… Let’s do some real talk. If you’re single, raise your hand. Now take a long, deep breath, and exhale. Feel that? Everything is going to be okay, you’re not gonna die… Unless you text and drive.   I know Christmas and the holidays are […]

    Youth Speaker for Hire!

“I have heard many, many motivational speakers in my life, but you are one of the best I have heard thus far. Your approach to the Catholic Church is truly inspiring, your music is phenomenal, and your message is a blessing to hear.”  Christine Flores  |  Youth Minister  |  Los […]

Confession: A Catholic Torture Chamber – by Paul J. Kim

“Confessing our sins is not going to a psychiatrist, or to a torture chamber: it’s saying to the Lord, ‘Lord, I am a sinner.’” ~ Pope Francis    I can remember the first time I had to go to confession. I was around 8 years old, and I was scared. […]

Would You Like Some Cleavage With Your Burger? – by Paul J. Kim

Every year in the United States, there’s this national holiday that rolls around called: Super Bowl Sunday. Half of the people at these household Super Bowl parties are there to see two NFL Football teams go at it for glory, in fierce competition. The other half of the partygoers are […]

One of the events I look forward to every year is the University of California Catholic Conference #UCCC2018! I’ve spoken at all 6 of them since it started in 2012. I’ve sorta become the honorary mascot
I met the Lord again tonight in Eucharistic Adoration, and He showed me how relentless He is in loving me and pursuing my heart. Wow. He is so good. “Beauty will save the world”. ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky. On a side note, I hope that this choir can sing at my funeral some day. Morbid? Nope. For us as Christians, death isn’t the end, it’s only the beginning. I want to see His glory. #UCCC2018 #taize #iphonex
This picture is me fighting the meat options at restaurants and in my fridge on Fridays during Lent.
The light of Christ is in each of us, but the darkness wants to also take center stage. When we hear about shootings, like the one yesterday in Parkland, FL, we see the extreme case of an individual who has allowed the darkness of sin and hate to rot him to the core of his being. As much as I might feel like the only thing he deserves is death for the evil he has done, the light of Christ calls me to pray for him. For massive conversion of heart. For God’s mercy to redeem him too. He doesn’t deserve it, but neither did we when Christ died to redeem us from our sins. Lord, help this young man, broken and possessed by evil, to experience your salvation. Heal and comfort all the victims of this attack, and may those who have passed, rest in your mercy. Let your supernatural grace give those who mourn, the strength and vision to forgive this murderer, and receive the gift of your peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. “The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it.” John 1:15 #parkland #prayers #rip #amen
I’m so proud to be an American tonight! Congrats to @chloekimsnow & @shaunwhite on the gold medals in snowboard halfpipe. Y’all make us proud. I love how the Olympics takes the attention off of what divides this country and focuses on what unites us: the fact that we are fortunate enough to be citizens of this great nation. There are countless stories of sacrifice, dedication, and inspiration that these athletes have displayed. They’ve reminded us to strive for the potential that is in each of us to be and do something great, whether or not it pertains to sports. As a Korean American, Chloe’s medal and the positive media attention for her achievements (along with her Dad’s sacrifices) means a lot to me. Growing up, being Asian meant I needed to fit into some one dimensional, stupid stereotype that someone had made up to make people of my ethnic heritage feel less than. I’ve personally worked hard to strive for excellence in whatever I do, to be original, to smash stereotypes and racist ceilings, and not be afraid to be different. And now I’m so grateful to God to be able to impact lives of every background and race, on a national and international level as a speaker, evangelist, musician, and comedian. I get to be me; to be fully alive firing at all cylinders. And I love what I do. And I love that I am a part of what makes America so diverse, unique, and awesome. To anyone reading this tonight who feels like you’re at a disadvantage, because you’re a minority... Don’t treat that as a stumbling block, but rather as a stepping stone. God bless America. And God, help us bless and glorify You. #olympics #2018 #chloekim #shaunwhite #inspiration #korean #american #unity #faith #hope #love
The sooner you learn how to accept yourself, be comfortable in your own skin, and stop thinking you need to be someone else in order to be valuable or worthy of love... The better off you and everybody around you will be. Growing up, I wasted so much time feeling insecure or comparing myself with my peers, or hoping I could fit in with a certain crowd, instead of being confident and sure of who God had created me to be. Today, I am free to make a gift of myself to others and not worry about what people think. I hope and pray you’ll do the same, because in the end, the only opinion that matters is God’s. And He’s crazy about you and “came that you would have life and life to the full.” John 10:10. Thanks to Sts. Peter and Paul Church (Cary, IL) for being a great audience today! #faith #hope #love #life #motivation #selfworth #Godisgood #ownit #youth

Meet my friend, Sister Bethany Madonna. Does she have any regrets about devoting her life to God? Nun. Ladies, the joy is real. If you are open to the possibility of discerning religious life, check out the Sisters of Life! #vocation #marry #Jesus #prolife #witness Comment with an “Amen” if you know any Sister who has been a blessing in your life 😇One of the events I look forward to every year is the University of California Catholic Conference #UCCC2018! I’ve spoken at all 6 of them since it started in 2012. I’ve sorta become the honorary mascot 😆. It’s such a joy to meet so many college students who seek the Lord and want to live out their Catholic faith unapologetically. Great to reunite with old friends like @ciaflow @rosemaryhua and the Sisters of Life. God is good in His people. All is not lost ;) #faith #hope #love #catholic #lentI met the Lord again tonight in Eucharistic Adoration, and He showed me how relentless He is in loving me and pursuing my heart. Wow. Was excited to share a new talk on the theme of “Adulting in the name of Jesus”. So grateful to God for the opportunities to fellowship with such good people. Cheers to @yamsandiego for putting on a great event. Check out the musical stylings of @dustin_jake 🤙🏼As a daddy of two kids, I need to teach them essential skills that will help them navigate life with wisdom, grace, and swag. That’s why I’m going to train them to freestyle like this kid 😂🎙🏆💯 #parenting #children #trainthemwell #freestyle
